SMA Ensemble Performs at the Ohio Theater
On June 2, 2006 members from the SMA ensemble traveled to the Ohio Theater in Columbus for an exciting evening. As part of Columbus Symphony Orchestra’s program “Young Musician’s Showcase,” they performed in the lobby as patrons arrived for a CSO concert. After our ensemble played, they attended the concert for free and were treated to a backstage tour during intermission. Our thanks go to Mary Farrington, SMA instructor and CSO member, for arranging this fun evening.
Two SMA Students Join Orchestra
Andrew Miller and Carrie Miller, two students of SMA since 2001, were accepted into the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra of Central Ohio for the 2006-07 season. Former SMA student Andrea Gingerich played in the orchestra for two years and says that it was a very rewarding experience for her. Andrew, who plays viola, and Carrie, who plays violin, are looking forward to this opportunity.
New Term to Start September 11
Faculty and students are gearing up for the new SMA academic year to begin September 11. A new guitar class is being offered and several new violin students will be added to the schedule as openings become available. We’re looking forward to a great year of musical growth!
